IntroductionThe E-science and Academic Libraries Bibliography includes English-language articles, books, editorials, and technical reports that are useful in understanding the broad role of academic libraries in e-science efforts. The scope of this brief selective bibliography is narrow, and it does not cover data curation and research data management issues in libraries in general (see the Digital Curation and Preservation Bibliography 2010 in the "Related Bibliographies" section below for coverage of these topics). The bibliography does not cover conference papers, digital media works (such as MP3 files), e-mail messages, interviews, letters to the editor, presentation slides or transcripts, unpublished e-prints, or weblog postings. Most sources have been published from 2007 through October 18, 2011; however, a limited number of earlier key sources are also included. The bibliography includes links to freely available versions of included works. If such versions are unavailable, italicized links to the publishers' descriptions are provided. Such links, even to publisher versions and versions in disciplinary archives and institutional repositories, are subject to change. URLs may alter without warning (or automatic forwarding) or they may disappear altogether. Inclusion of links to works on authors' personal websites is highly selective. Note that e prints and published articles may not be identical. BibliographyAlvaro, Elsa, Heather Brooks, Monica Ham, Stephanie Poegel, and Sarah Rosencrans.
